Your Next Coworker Might Be A Shelter Cat
If you live in Florida, your next temporary coworker might be a cat.
"Office Cats" is a new program out of the Humane Society of Broward County. The shelter will dispatch adoptable cats to pet-friendly small businesses in South Florida, where we assume that no one will ever be taking another sick day.
Yes, it's a great way to keep workers happy and show the world how committed your company is to pet adoption. And most importantly, as with all foster programs that get critters out of shelters for a spell, Office Cats will help the felines a whole lot, too.
"It provides more exposure for the cats to help them find a permanent home faster, and gives them more freedom, space, comfort and enrichment outside of a shelter environment," HSBC spokesperson Adam Goldberg told The Huffington Post. "Finding pets a permanent home is our top priority and fostering pets outside of the shelter has proven to be a very successful way of doing so."
Want to know more? Of course you do; we're talking about Office Cats.
As you can see on this helpful FAQ, the shelter provides food, a litter box, veterinary care and other supplies. The sleeping arrangements are flexible: cats can go home with a workplace volunteer at night, or sleep over at the office.
And you don't even need to worry about paying these kitties overtime, since they're working for free. (That's a cute way of saying that it doesn't cost any money to participate in the Office Cats program. We can't help but be cute about adoptable cats.)
Your office will be expected to provide a safe enclosed space, and lots and lots of love, until the cats quit in a huff get adopted.
